Worldly Sacrifice by Gene McGuire (Wednesday, July 11, 2007)
“For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.” (Titus 3:3)
COMMENT: The other day I saw a young lady standing out in the cold shivering. No, she wasn’t a homeless person, she was an employee of a restaurant smoking a cigarette because it is unlawful to do so inside. My first thought was: “What’s the matter with that woman, why is she making such a stupid sacrifice? Doesn’t she know she is slowly killing herself?” Then all of a sudden it came back to me how addicted I had been to those “cancer sticks”in the past. It was only by the grace of God that I was delivered.from that dreaded weed. Brothers and sisters, ,just as I looked down my nose at that woman puffing on that cigarette in the dead of Winter, we often look scornfully at the bizarre behavior of those who do not know Jesus. He showed us how we should respond to sinners when He displayed His love and compassion for the woman caught in adultery.
SCRIPTURE STUDY: John 8: 1-12
WISE SAYING: THERE, BUT FOR THE GRACE OF GOD, GO I.
