Today’s message is based on a teaching by Joyce Meyer.

“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. (Phil.3:13,14)

COMMENT: As children of God, we all work for perfection, but being only dust, we often fail. But what is your reaction when that happens? Do you get down on yourself and grieve for a couple of days trying to pay penitence for your sin or do you run to Jesus, confess and repent? Not that we should just slough off our sins.. . .godly sorrow brings about repentance. However, we should not wallow in grief over them. Don’t be led by your feelings but by what the Word of God says about you. Many people carry a root of shame in their lives that produces grief every time they don’t produce perfectly. We need to confess the Word out of our mouths concerning who we are in Christ to overcome those negative feelings. Your confession will have a greater impact on you if you personalize it. You might want to say something like this:”I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. ” (Romans 5:19) “I am a new creation in Christ, old things have passed away and all things have become new.” (2Cor. 5:17) “God’s mercy and love for me never ceases.” (Psalm 107:1) “When I confessed my sin to God, He forgave me and I am cleansed of all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
