The Lord Grants Wisdom! by Yeap Chee Seng, Guest Writer
6 For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
Proverbs 2:6 (NLT)
The entire chapter of Proverbs 2 focuses on the benefits of wisdom. What is wisdom? What does it mean by being wise? I used to have the impression of a wise man as someone who lives in poverty and spend most of his waking hours meditating. His house is a cave somewhere in the mountains and there are people going to the mountains to search for these wise men to listen to their words of wisdom. This is the religious version of wisdom. I had such thoughts because I was in a religious church before.
However, the God of the Bible has a different view on wisdom. In God’s view, having wisdom enables us to live in riches, honor and long life.
16 She offers you long life in her right hand, and riches and honor in her left.
Proverbs 3:16 (NLT)
In Proverbs 3:16, God personified wisdom as a woman. She has long life in her left hand, richer and honor in her right. When you have the entire person, you can have the things she is holding in both her hands. This means the wisdom of God gives us long life, riches and honor. If you happen to be a religious person and you believe that it is against your religious doctrines to have long life, riches and honor then you must not read the Bible because doing do will give you wisdom.
Proverbs 2:6 tells us that the Lord grants wisdom. We don’t have to beg him for it. He is willing to give us freely. The only variable here is whether we are willing to receive wisdom from him. The second part says knowledge and understanding come from his mouth. This means he speaks words of knowledge and understanding. If you want to know and understand more, you need to listen to him more. The Bible is the written record of his words. So, you should spend more time reading the Bible and listen to faith messages if you want more knowledge and understanding.
“Why should I need more knowledge and understanding?”
Knowledge and understanding are necessary not only for us to survive in this world but also to thrive in it. They separate us as a species from the animals. Animals act on instincts. Instincts are genetic programs in animals helping them to survive on their own and play their roles in their community. Dogs know how to behave like dogs. Cats know how to behave like cats. They don’t have to attend classes to behave like their species. This is the benefit of instincts. It is preprogrammed into the animals just like Windows Program in personal computers. It saves the time needed for learning. The weakness of instincts is, it is also restrictive. Anyone who relies solely on instincts will never rise above what the limitations on the instincts. This is why animals remain animals.
When we gain knowledge and understand how things work, we can move beyond the limitations of our situation. Human beings are not designed to fly. However our knowledge and understanding on the laws of physics enable us to build planes which enables us to fly. Through our knowledge and understanding, we can do things and achieve results that seemed impossible. Our knowledge and understanding enables us to prosper beyond our wildest dream and make our wildest dream come true.
What does Proverbs 2:6 mean to us? It tells us to seek God for our success. God is a very successful person and he wants us to be as successful. He wants to help us to make our dreams come true. He wants to help us to achieve our goals. He has all resources that we need for our success. He has all the knowledge and understanding that we need for our success and achieve our dreams. All we need to do is ask and receive them from him. This means we need to spend time with him. We need to pray, read the Bible and listen to faith messages.
“Are you saying that the Bible is an encyclopedia?”
The Bible has limited pages and words, which makes it looks inferior than the encyclopedias you see in the bookshops. However, when you read it together with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, there is no limit in the revelations you can receive. These revelations give you fresh knowledge and understanding for your success. All my articles were written on this basis.
Therefore, no matter what areas of expertise you are involved in, God is also an expert in that area. Seek for him and he will help you to excel in the area of your expertise and interest. If you are a scientist, God is the one who invented science. If you are a businessperson, God knows how to make a lot of money. If you are an artist, God know how to make beautiful things.
In conclusion, God has all the knowledge and understanding we need for our success. Our time with him is the key to our success.

We welcome Yeap Chee Seng as a Guest Writer at all of our sites! Yeap Chee Seng is a noted Faith Blogger and has an exciting Free EBook on Faith, Prosperity & Wisdom. Here’s his Bio:
Yeap Chee Seng was born in Malaysia and is now a citizen of Singapore. Since his youth, he have been fascinated with Physics. At one time, he wanted to be one of the recipients of Nobel Prize in Physics! Wow! However, as he grew practicality took over. Chee ended up taking up an Engineering degree in Singapore, the place in which he eventually got married and become a citizen.
He has been working as an engineer in the construction sector for close to 10 years since his graduation. He also was involved in the financial sector for about 2 years. He understands very well how finances work in the world as well as in the kingdom of God. He is now working again in the construction sector, trusting God for his career and financial breakthrough.
Chee enjoys writing and reading especially Science Fiction. If not for the revelation God has given to him, Science Fiction could have been be his Gospel. He hates religion. He cannot appreciate the idea of a God that causes sickness, poverty, accidents and disasters because it is His will to do so. Of course, God has revealed His truth to Chee. It has been such joy to know that God is good and not evil. Today Chee says he is free because I know God is for him and not against him.
All my articles in his blog were written with the intention of putting the Word Of God to practical use. Chee doesn’t believe in empty words. When he was in a religious church, his impression of God’s love was only empty words that do not produce practical solutions, which he suspects many Christians still believe in the same lie. Chee believes the Bible is for our prosperity and success. This is the main theme of his blog. Yeap Chee Seng’s Weblog is HERE
