“. . .bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.” (2 Cor.10:5)

COMMENT: For the longest time I just couldn’t get a handle on the above scripture. Recently I heard some teaching by Charles Stanley that really made the subject much clearer. Pastor Stanley explained it this way. Every thought that comes to our mind should be “filtered” through what we know about the will and Word of God. “If it don’t fit, reject it quick!” (gene’s words) We are all aware that the mind is the battlefield where the war between good and evil is being waged. But in order to use that “filter” effectively, we must know what the Word says. The devil will often try to deceive us by including a modicum of truth in his suggestions. Didn’t he quote Scripture to Jesus when He was in the Wilderness? (Luke 4:9 -11) We can dismiss the devil’s sinful thoughts the way Jesus did. . .use the Word of God. (Luke 4:4)  Let’s all study to present ourselves approved.(2 Tim. 2:15)
