A Ram In A Bush by Gene McGuire (Saturday, November 3, 2007)
Posted: October 23, 2007 in 14, A ram in a bush, Abraham, boring existence, Genesis 22: 8, Habakkuk 3: 19, Isaiah 40: 31, Jehovah-Jireh, ROMANS 8: 31, storms“And Abraham said, ‘My son, God will provide Himself a lamb for a burnt offering’; so they went both of them together. And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh; as it is said to this day, in the mount of the Lord it shall be seen.” Genesis 22:8, 14
COMMENT:Each morning, If God were to whisper into your ear everything that will happen that day, would you be happy with that arrangement? Well, I don’t know how you feel, but I think this would lead to a very boring existence. To me, it is so much better to put my life in the hands of My Heavenly Father, anticipating the wondrous things he will bring about daily. For instance, in our Lead Scripture, God had a ram caught in a thicket at the place where He had commanded Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac. The ram became the substitute sacrifice. Abraham named that place Jehovah-jireh (jeh-ho-vaw’ yir-eh’), the God who sees and the God who provides. Each day He goes before us and gives us favor with people and circumstances. I don’t want to miss out on the excitement and anticipation. I yearn to see how God will bless me and how He will use me to bless others. What do you think?
SCRIPTURE STUDY: Isaiah 40:31, Habakkuk. 3:19 and Romans 8:31
WISE SONG LYRICS: NO MATTER THE STORMS THAT COME MY WAY. NO MATTER THE TRIALS I MAY FACE. YOU PROMISED THAT YOU WOULD SEE ME THROUGH, SO I WILL TRUST IN YOU.
Look up! by Gene McGuire (Thursday, November 1, 2007)
Posted: October 23, 2007 in 000 meters, 10, 17, feud between two speed skaters, haughty look, Look up, proud heart, Proverbs 21: 4, Proverbs 28: 25, Proverbs 6: 16, Psalm 101: 5b, Psalm 110: 21, Psalm 119: 21, Washington Times, Winter OlympicsThe one who has a haughty look and a proud heart, him I will not endure.” (Psalm 101:5b)
COMMENT: How many of you looked at the Winter Olympics? I understand that the TV program, “American Idol”, did a job on that event. Personally speaking, I can’t wait until the football season comes! However, there were some developments in the winter games that were of interest, namely, the feud between two speed skaters. Shani Davis and Chad Hedrick went at each other tooth and nail throughout the games. I believe that both were infected with the ‘malady” that was mentioned in our Lead Scripture, pride. In Saturday’s Washington Times Chad gave us proof positive by the statement he made after winning the silver medal in the 10,000 meters race. Here is his comment: “My heart is bigger than anyone else out there. If another skater had felt like I did today, he wouldn’t have been on the podium. That’s just me refusing to lose.” When God gives us the strength and the wherewithal to accomplish great things, we must never look inward, look upward and gave the Lord the glory.
Scripture Study: Psalm 119:21, Proverbs 6:16,17, 21:4, 28:25
WISE SAYING: DON’T TAKE THE CREDIT FOR WHAT GOD HAS DONE. DON’T FOOL YOURSELF, IT’S THE WORK OF THE SON! (gene mcguire)
