WORD FOR THE DAY: “Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength..”

-Nehemiah 8:10

GIVE IT TO GOD!

With God, there are no coincidences. So, I choose to believe that you are not reading this by accident. Today, i you have to make some decisions. Some are very easy. But, I warn you watch out for the easy decisions because sometimes they shouldn’t be so easy. The bible says that if any man (or woman) seeks wisdom let him(or her) ask of God who giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not. That’s good. So get into the habit of ask God for wisdom on a daily basis. Ask Him to relieve you of procrastination in paying a bill, keeping your word, being on time, volunteering, helping others, cleaning up or whatever you are supposed to do. Stand in faith. Watch God honor your diligence. Remember…NO COINCIDENCES!

INTERESTING NOTE HERE ON WHAT AVE MARIA MEANS TO ME

“There is [now no distinction] neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is not male and female; for you are all one in Christ.” (Galatians 3:28)

COMMENT: Childhood in Detroit was a lot of fun, but it certainly had it’s difficult moments also. I recall the fear that I had as a youngster when my city went wild with a race riot in 1941; 34 people were killed. You can just imagine the terror that was engendered in an eight year old. The race riot of 1967 was rather scary because my wife, kids and I had just moved into a predominately white neighborhood. We were safe, but the thing that burns in my memory to this day is what was done to a statue of Jesus Christ at a Catholic seminary…the face and hands were painted black. The seminary decided to leave the coloring as it was. They may have been afraid that the sculpture would be damaged by the perpetrators if they restored it. However, I would hope that they also were thinking like me. It doesn’t matter whether Jesus was black as coal with kinky hair, white as snow with blond locks or anything in between. The Lord used wisdom by not giving us a detailed description of Christ because different groups would claim Him as their own. Our Savior doesn’t belong to any one segment of the human race; He belongs to anyone who will receive Him as Lord and Savior.

SCRIPTURE STUDY: Psalm 3:8, John 3:16 and Romans 1:16

WISE SAYING: YOU CAN’T BUY YOUR WAY INTO HEAVEN. JESUS HAS ALREADY PAID THE PRICE.

John The Baptist

“For I say to you, among those born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.” (Luke 7:28)

COMMENT: I often wondered what Jesus meant by our Lead Scripture. Well, I found an answer in my Daily Devotional and I would like to share it with you.

THIS PRESENT WONDER – Luke 71:28 While in prison, John the Baptist sent to ask confirmation from Jesus that He was the Messiah (v.19). Jesus responded with a strong commendation of John’s character and calling. Jesus’ enthusiastic approval of John makes His statement all the more important that the least in the kingdom of God is greater than John. The humblest believer in the New Covenant era is greater in privilege, insight, and knowledge than any believer under the Old Covenant. The New Testament believer lives in the dispensation of the Spirit (2 Cor. 3:8), who testifies to Christ’s atonement as the culmination of God’s redeeming work. Even angels long to see these things of Christ which have been preached in the power of the Holy Spirit under the New Covenant (1 Peter 1:12). The light of the Gospel of Christ shines with far greater luster than did the former glory of the Old Covenant. Jesus told His disciples that they were to consider themselves richly blessed for being able to see and hear the fulfilled Gospel, which many prophets and righteous men had desired to see and hear but did not (Matt.13:17). This privilege of greater revelation also reminds us of our grater responsibility under the Gospel. (The Daily Devotional Bible – Thomas Nelson Publishers)
