COMMENT: My front yard seems to be a mecca for weeds. It apparently is their favorite meeting place. Somewhere I heard of a great idea to get rid of weeds without being stressed out. Here is the concept: pull a couple of weeds each time you leave the house and when you return do likewise. If you are consistent, it won’t be long until your weed situation is under control. I started that procedure and was having great success for a couple of weeks. A while ago, I became sloven in my efforts and before I knew it, the situation was out of hand again! You know where I am going with this, don’t you? The thoughts, attitudes and habits of this world system are the spiritual equivalent to the weeds in my yard. After we are saved, it is our obligation to daily renew our minds with God’s Word. The Amplified Bible gives us a more succinct version of our Lead Scripture. “Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God…”. Don’t be sloven, keep your spiritual lawn free of weeds!
