But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation.” (1 Peter 2:9)
COMMENT: In the Old Testament the priests were intercessors for the ordinary people. They made sacrifices for them to cover their sins. Once a year a priest went into “The Most Holy Place” and made a sacrifice for himself and the people. This was called The Day of Atonement. (Exodus 30:10) When Jesus died on the cross it is told that the veil of the temple was torn from top to bottom denoting that we New Covenant Christians can now have direct access to The Throne of God to obtain mercy and grace (Hebrews 4:16); we need no intermediary. (Mark 15:38) Of course, this doesn’t mean that we should not ask others to pray for us. Our Lead Scripture tells us that we don’t need priests to intercede for us because we are priests. Jesus, the High Priest of our confession, has taken His blood into the Most Holy Place. There is no longer a need for animal sacrifices but we are to offer the sacrifice of thanksgiving. (Psalm 116:17)

……even God, who ….calls those things which do not exist as though they did.” (Romans 4:17b) COMMENT: I am not sure of the authenticity of this story, but I heard about this Church whose theology was based upon “positive thinking”. At the end of a particular service, as the pastor was greeting the congregation, he stopped one of the parishioners and asked him about his wife. The husband responded that she was sick. The pastor quickly corrected him and asserted: “Oh no, she just thinks she’s sick. Two Sundays later, we are at the same scene and the pastor, once again, inquires about the man’s wife and he said “she’s dead!’ He responded: “Oh, she thinks she’s dead!”

I suspect that some Christians believe that participants in the so-called “Faith Movement” lie and actually deny that the circumstances that have come upon them exist. . . .just like the pastor in our story. However, it is my understanding that they don’t deny the existence of the circumstances, but they deny the right of the circumstances to be manifested in their lives based on the promises of God. By confessing God’s promises, they are “calling forth things that are not as though they were.”

WISE SAYING #1: AS LONG AS I CAN SEE IT, I CAN USE MY FAITH AND THE WORD OF GOD TO CHANGE IT WISE SAYING#2: WHEN TRIBULATIONS COME, PREACH THE WORD OF GOD TO YOURSELF. . Sincerely Yours, Gene McGuire

“Therefore, I say to you whatever things you ask when you pray, believe you receive them and you shall have them.” (Mark 11:24)

COMMENT: I have been told – and I think it’s sound advice – that when I have a need I should find a Scripture that corresponds with that need and use it in prayer. For instance, if there is sickness in my body, part of my prayer might go like this: “Heavenly Father, in 1 Peter 2:24 You said that by the stripes of Your Son Jesus I am healed. So based on Your Word, in the name of Jesus, I ask for healing in my body now.” After that prayer, I’m not going to get my friend on the phone and lament over how sick I am. What I will tell him is that I have received healing in my body according to our Lead Scripture. Furthermore, as I get ready for work and throughout the day, I will orally declare that I am healed. (I have to fight my flesh because it wants to tell me that I am lying, but I know that I am scriptually  correct.) The more I confess that promise of God about myself, the stronger my faith grows (Romans 10:17); and it is just a matter of time before that which is already manifested in the spirit realm will make it’s appearance in the natural. PRAISE GOD!
