” IN 2011, LET’S SHOW MANY THE PATHWAY TO HEAVEN ”

“And you fathers . . . bring them (your children) up in the training and admonition of the Lord.” (Ephesians 6:4b) & “A foolish son is the ruin of his father. . .”(Proverbs 19:13)
COMMENT: Some time ago I had a conversation with a Christian brother who has fathered several sons who seem to continually “visit” our local penitentiaries. As soon as one is released, his brother does something to go back behind bars. Because of the fierce winds of “bad influence”, sometimes the apple falls a long ways away from the tree. I drew my friend’s attention to a couple of biblical examples that opened his eyes. In 1 Samuel 2:12 we read about Eli, the High Priest, whose two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, were evil doers. Samuel, the man who succeeded Eli as High Priest, didn’t have a much better result with his sons, Joel and Abijah. “They turned aside after dishonest gain, took bribes and perverted justice.” (1 Samuel 8:1-3) The point I made to my brother is that when your children are adults, it is up to them to make the right choices. You then must become a “prayer warrior”, entreating God that, through the power of the Holy Spirit, the seeds of righteousness which have been sown in their hearts will be brought forth to fruition and flourish. Self-condemnation is fruitless.
