“WITH THE LOVE OF GOD, WE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD”

“Who (God) redeems your life from destruction.” (Psalm 103:4)

COMMENT: Back in the 20’s when they had silent movies – I never experienced one, I only heard of them – there was a particular “chapter movie” that ran every Saturday called “The Perils of Pauline”. I imagine this was the forerunner of today’s soap operas. Every week this heroine would find herself in grave jeopardy because of a cruel villain. For instance, she could be tied to a railroad track with a train bearing down on her, going over Niagara Falls in a boat or falling out of a window. This brave lady would be at death’s doorstep but you would have to come back next Saturday to see how she would be saved. There are three distinct times in my life when I was in grave peril and God divinely intervened. In the 60’s, after drinking at a company convention, I went swimming and almost drowned.*** In the 80’s I was stabbed in the chest, one inch from the heart. Finally, in the 90’s the brakes on a car I had borrowed gave out at a busy intersection. I travel to that intersection almost daily and 9 times out of 10 the light is red for me, but as I futilely pumped the brakes, I sailed across the street on a green light! All of the perils God gets us out of in a lifetime would put the Perils of Pauline to shame. I suspect that when we get to Heaven, we’ll be astonished at the number of catastrophes we unknowingly avoided through His divine intervention. We are blessed with a God of love Who takes good care of His children.

SCRIPTURE STUDY: Psalm 119:117, Proverbs 18:19 and 29:25

WISE SAYING: A MAN OF GOD, IN THE WILL OF GOD, IS IMMORTAL UNTIL HIS WORK IS DONE
