The Hardest Test You Will Ever Take by Gene McGuire October, 2013

 “You shall love your neighbor as you love yourself.” (Matthew 22:39b)

 COMMENT: Because of the selfish, grabby nature we all were born with (natural birth), the above commandment is impossible for unbelievers to accomplish. Born again Christians may have a problem fulfilling this mandate for a different reason. . . .a loathing of themselves. Some Believers are trapped in the quagmire because they are carrying around a feeling of guilt. They say: “I’m a Christian and I am acting in this sinful way. What is wrong with me?” Jesus told Peter to forgive his brother 7 times 70. (Matt. 18:21,22) If He tell us, we who are mere dust, to have that much compassion, how much more love and compassion do you suppose our Heavenly Father has for His Children?  When we sin, we should repent, ask for forgiveness and FORGET IT, God has. “. . . For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.” (Jer. 31:34) However, let’s not use God’s wonderful grace as a “license to sin”. Let us grow daily into the image of Jesus and work out our salvation with fear and trembling. (Phil. 2:12)SCRIPTURE STUDY: Leviticus 19:18, Proverbs 10:12 and 1 Cor. 3:16

The Blank Check by Gene McGuire August, 2011

“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. (John 15:7)

 

COMMENT: How would you like for someone to sign a blank check, give it to you and tell  you to fill in the amount? No, don’t look to me, I’m talking about God. You know that God is not a man that He could lie. (Titus 1:2) To me, our Lead Scripture is, indeed, a blank check from our Heavenly Father, but it has conditions. Let’s take a look at the Amplified Bible version of this Word: “If you live in Me [abide vitally united to Me] and My words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you.” I believe that Jesus is not taking a chance by making this bold promise. He knows that if a child of God conscientiously fellowships with Him in prayer, praise and worship and faithfully reads His Word and applies it to his life, he would definitely know the will of God and will always ask within those limits. I think some brothers and sisters in the 1970’s got a hold of just the last part of John 15:7 and paid no attention to the requirements. They were called the “Name it and claim it” bunch. I see them as babes and not mature Christians who perceived God as “The Great Order Taker”. They gave a bad name to the legitimate practice of confessing the Word of God. However, if we have fulfilled the requirements of our Lead Scripture we should began to confess God’s Word because we know that faith comes by hearing (Romans 10:17) and when that faith is built up, it will deliver our desires from the spiritual realm into the natural.
